Beatnickel Journal – Chapter 3: Swear Words, Blocks & Bureaucracy
And here we are again. Another rejection from Apple.
This is the third time Beatnickel has been rejected by the Apple App Store. This time? It’s about… swear words. Yes – Apple now requires us to create a list of banned words that cannot be used in messages or posts within the app. They also want us to include a way to report and block users – even though users can already block each other in the chat.
We’re taking this seriously and plan to submit an updated version to Apple today. Hopefully, the third time’s the charm, and we’ll finally be approved so iPhone users can join the Beatnickel community too.
Google already said yes weeks ago
The difference in requirements between Google Play and Apple’s App Store is staggering. We were approved for the Google Play Store weeks ago – so if you’re on Android, you can already download the app and try it out. But Apple has stricter guidelines, and it’s frustrating – especially since most musicians use Apple products.
We keep building – no matter what
While waiting for Apple’s green light, we’re not sitting still. We’re redesigning the signup flow and working on an all-new news feed, where users can share updates, events, and more. Our goal is to make Beatnickel an even more powerful and inspiring tool for musicians, bands, venues, and the entire music scene.
There’s growing interest in what we’re building, and we’re working hard to deliver.
Staying patient – and persistent
As they say in the startup world: Be short-term impatient and long-term patient.
We’d rather have 10 users who love Beatnickel than 1,000 who don’t care. So we keep adjusting, building – and waiting. Apple will say yes. And when they do, we’ll be ready.
Thanks for following the journey. We can’t wait to open the doors for everyone.
